Idea launches Android dual-SIM smartphone ID-918

Idea has launched a new Android dual-SIM smartphone ID-918. It is noteworthy, that this is the same handset that NDTV Gadgets had earlier reported.

This is the third Android smartphone from Idea Cellular. The other two 3G smartphones were launched in November 2011 with Android 2.2 on-board but ID-918 is the first Gingerbread smartphone from the company. It is priced at Rs 5,994 and the company will be offering free benefits of up to Rs. 2,300 with every purchase in the form of free minutes, 6GB data and free Idea TV subscription.

"Our first 2 smartphones 'Blade' and 'ID-280' saw higher uptake due to their multitasking capabilities and vast range of preloaded application. We have noticed good response and rapid uptake of our 3G services due to Idea smarphones', said Sashi Shankar, Chief Marketing Officer, Idea Cellular.

ID-918 features 3.2 MP camera, microSD support of up to 32 GB, and changeable covers.
