Airtel Digital TV, the Direct-To-Home (DTH) subsidiary of Bharti Airtel, has launched its Infinity Wi-Fi dongle in India, priced at Rs. 849.

The new Airtel Wi-Fi dongle has been launched during Google India's Great Online Shopping Festival (GOSF) and has been featured in the 'exclusive' section of the GOSF India site. The new Infinity Wi-Fi dongle is exclusively available on Infibeam.

The Airtel Infinity Wi-Fi dongle is an "easy-to-plug-in" Wi-Fi Dongle that lets Airtel digital TV HD users experience the On Demand TV service. The device is compatible with HD, HD+, and HD-DVR set-top boxes and requires an Internet speed of 2Mbps.

Airtel details the Infinity TV Wi-Fi dongle as, "With this Wi-Fi enabler, HD users can now easily enjoy a video library of more than 1000+ movie titles including the latest movies, sitcoms, TV shows, fitness guides and also Catch-up on last 6 days of pre-recorded TV shows across 35 top rated channels by just plugging this device in their STB and having a handy Wi-Fi connection."

The country's biggest telecom provider also announced what it calls a first-of-its kind service called Self-Care app for TV sets. Much like My Airtel mobile app, the Self-Care app will allow Airtel Digital TV subscribers to access the Airtel Digital TV account details. The Self-Care app requires an active Internet connection.

Notably, Google on Tuesday announced the Chromecast in India, priced at Rs. 2,999. The dongle-shaped device will be exclusively available via Snapdeal starting Wednesday as part of the Google's third edition of the Great Online Shopping Festival (GOSF).
